MA Employers- Make Safety Information Visible and Available

For many employees, especially those who work in labor-intensive jobs, asking for safety regulations and procedures at a job site can bring about hostility and animosity from managers. It is almost as if there is a “don’t ask, don’t tell” motto for employees because of the ridicule they are sure to receive from their supervisors.  It is believed that if they speak up about wanting to know their rights and risks of a job, they will look incompetent or even be punished for their concern.

However, studies have shown that when employees are aware of the possible risks and implications of completing a certain job, they perform higher on that job than those who are not shared the same information.  The reason for this is that they are less careless with materials and spend more time making sure the job is done properly.  Therefore, it employees are informed, the better their work will be; it’s a win-win!

A worker’s safety should be the employer’s top concern, especially in these types of industries where the employee’s health is necessary for a job’s completion.  C&S Insurance believes that in order to reduce a business’s liability in case of an accident or to reduce the business’s workers compensation rates, it is vital to make the safety information both visible and readily available to employees.
