There are always going to be situations on the highway where the pothole is just unavoidable but the damage can be lessened if you remain proactive in maintaining the safety of your car. Tires are the most important area; make sure to have your tires checked regularly.  If your tires are not properly inflated they will most likely blow out when they hit a pothole. So make sure to keep an eye on the pressure of all four tires; do not ignore the low tire pressure light. It is also important to remember that simply checking your tires yourself is not enough, expertise from an auto professional is the best and safest way to test your vehicle.  If there is no way to avoid the pothole the best thing to do it brake before impact so you do not come in contact as hard and avoid braking during collision with the pothole, this will only cause more damage to your vehicle.

For situations like this it is important to remember that comprehensive insurance under your mass auto insurance policy will help you in paying for your auto damages but collision will not. Also, your deductible will still apply. Talk to your insurance agent to receive information about your auto insurance coverage policy.
