Young Drivers in Your Family? Don't Stress!

When teenagers turn 16, their first thought is FREEDOM!  With a driver’s license in hand, they feel that they have the freedom to be able to come and go as they please and that they have the new found independence that they wanted for so many years.  However, for many parents, when their child turns 16 it means two things; more to worry about and higher auto insurance rates.  To help ease parent’s of new driver’s minds, C&S Insurance in Mansfield, MA has come up with a few words of wisdom to ease the financial burden that often comes with adding a new driver to a policy.

1.)    Buy a sedan- this is important even if your child pleads with you to get a coop!  There is no need for a person under the age of 25, or until they are paying for their own insurance, to drive a two-door vehicle.

2.)    Check the car’s safety ratings- this is simple; the safer the car, the safer your child will be in the case of an accident, and also the cheaper your insurance rates!

3.)    Put your child on your insurance policy- there is nothing worse than lying on your forms and then being rejected by your adjuster because of those lies.  Honesty is key when dealing with your insurance agent!  For more information about adding a new driver to an existing policy, contact an agent at C&S Insurance today!
