Answer: In 1759, the first life insurance policy was issued in the United States of America.
The company that issued this policy was the “Corporation for the Relief of Poor and Distressed Presbyterian Ministers and of the Poor and Distressed Widows and Children Presbyterian Ministers.” In 1856 the name was changed to The Presbyterian Annuity Company, later to be changed in 1888 to The Presbyterian Ministers Fund.
