Coats for Kids: The Ben Cavallo Fund/Knights of Columbus Council 420

Connie is a licensed broker for all lines of insurance and has been in the industry for 38 years, 20 of them with C&S! She has been married for 40 years and has two adult daughters.

As we reflect on all the things we’re thankful for this year, most of us are lucky enough to count heated homes and warm clothing on our lists. Sadly, some 14% of Americans aren’t as fortunate. In Massachusetts alone, more than 685,000 people are living in poverty—many of them children. Without proper winter clothing, kids lose the ability to learn, grow, and play.

Our company founder, B. Benjamin Cavallo, cared deeply about the issue of children in need, about his St. Mary’s Parish family, and the Mansfield community in general. We’re heartened to know Ben’s legacy of giving will live on through his Coats for Kids fund, which—together with the efforts of the Knights of Columbus, George C. Shields, Council 420—is prepared to distribute hundreds of winter coats to the children of the Fall River diocese.

Here’s more information on this year’s drive. Please help us spread the word:

Who can get a free winter coat?

Coats are available for children ages pre-K (size 4) through high school (adult XL). Children will be able to try on different sizes, and choose the best fit.

Where are the coats available?

Coats can be picked up at Coyle and Cassidy High School’s Food Pantry, located at 2 Hamilton Street, Taunton, MA.

When are coats being distributed?

Coats will be distributed on Saturday, November 24th, between 9AM and noon.

Are the coats new or used?

All the coats are brand new—available in a variety of styles and colors.

How can I get involved or contribute?

First and foremost, you can help by getting the word out. Share this information with anyone you know who may have children in need of warm coats.

Although the coats for this year have already been purchased, you are welcome to make a donation to the Knights of Columbus Council 420, specifying the Ben Cavallo Coats for Kids Fund. Contributions will help the Council realize its vision for expanded drives in future years—reaching more communities and more children all across Massachusetts.

I have a question not answered here. Who should I contact?
